The News Standard is the weekly community newspaper of Meade County and its residents. The paper was founded in October, 2006, by Publisher Sue Cummings, a life-long resident of Meade County and local business owner. The News Standard embraces old-fashioned journalism ethics and reporting while also embracing the most recent trends in page design and photography. The paper includes a healthy variety of news, features, and school coverage every week, to include a sports section featuring high school athletics, commentary on UK and U of L sports, outdoors and NASCAR articles.

The paper also introduced its web site in early 2007, which is updated every Friday and includes photo galleries where pictures can be downloaded. The web site also includes a full archive.
